The First Day of School

This time 5 years ago, I was trying to decide whether or not I should introduce our son to Gerber's mashed yellow squash or mashed sweet potatoes. And today my hubby and I walked him to his kindergarten class at the "big kid" school in our neighborhood. What have I been doing these last few years? It doesn't feel like its been 5 years, at least not emotionally, and well physically is another blog post. I know I've been there for every milestone and every first; and I know we've been getting prepared for this day with all of the new first day stuff; but I now realize that I was not prepared to have a school-aged child.
I realize that there is nothing that one can purchase that will prepare them to leave their child with a bunch of strangers. Although, we do have a pretty tech savvy neighbor, that I'm sure could help me devise a way to put a GPS device in my son's shoe; but otherwise I am forced to wait and see the outcome of our efforts when I pick him up in the carpool line this afternoon. But regardless of the outcome, the one thing that will never change today will always be your first day of school! Mama's super proud of you big boy! Congratulations Class of 2023!
